Apple Cider Vinegar for Hair & Gut Health — Honest Uses (Pakistan)

Beyond weight loss, apple cider vinegar (ACV / sirka) is used two other popular ways in Pakistan: as a hair rinse and for “gut health.” Here's the honest version of what each can and can't do — and how to do them safely.

Important: ACV is a food, not a medicine. It is highly acidic — always dilute it, whether for hair or drinking. If you have acid reflux, ulcers, or a scalp condition, be cautious and check with a professional.

ACV for hair

A diluted ACV rinse can help remove product buildup and leave hair looking shinier and smoother, because its acidity smooths the hair cuticle. It won't “cure” hair fall or dramatically grow hair — think shine and scalp freshness, not miracles.

  • Rinse recipe: mix 1–2 tablespoons ACV in 1 cup (250ml) water.
  • After shampoo, pour over hair, massage the scalp briefly, leave 1–2 minutes, then rinse with plain water.
  • Use once a week (over-use can dry out hair).
  • Never apply undiluted — it can irritate the scalp.

ACV for gut & digestion

Many people take diluted ACV before meals as a traditional digestion aid, and raw ACV “with the mother” contains beneficial bacteria and enzymes. The evidence is modest — it may help some people feel less bloated or more comfortable after heavy meals, but it is not a treatment for any digestive condition.

  • How: 1–2 teaspoons in a full glass of water, 15 minutes before a meal.
  • Use a straw and rinse your mouth after, to protect tooth enamel.
  • Avoid if you have acid reflux, ulcers or gastritis — it can make these worse, not better.

Choose raw ACV with the mother

For both uses, raw, unfiltered ACV “with the mother” is best. Learn how to spot genuine ACV in our ACV price & with-mother guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does ACV help hair growth?
It mainly adds shine and removes buildup. It's not a proven hair-growth or hair-fall treatment.

How often should I use an ACV hair rinse?
Once a week, always diluted. More can dry the hair.

Is ACV good for the gut?
It may support digestion for some people, but it can worsen acid reflux and ulcers — be cautious.

Can I drink ACV daily?
Most people do, diluted. Start with 1 teaspoon and stop if it causes discomfort.
